XFM

I: And Rob we talked about this thing on the show now and again, it’s called Celebrity Stalker and I think it’s something you can only really do when you’re on the radio in London. Because we get a high consentration of people here in the media, famous people who have profile and stuff like that and a celebrity stalker is for somebody who isn’t famous and they see a celebrity or somebody with profile often, and you were mine for a while, I used to see you everywhere.
RP: Really?
I: You were my celebrity stalker, yeah. I’m gonna run some places by you just to double check that I was delivered fat people (???). This was you on a Sunday carrying a guitar the Sun Inn in Barnes.
RP: I have been there many times.
I: Yeah?
RP: Almost I had an interesting story about the Sun Inn.
GP: Do tell, do tell your story.
RP: I thought it’s kind of fascinating, I went to a psychic the other day
GP: As you do
RP: And as soon as she --- well you’re crazy psychic, like, I can’t get a read on you, I can teach you how to be a psychic. And she said like ’go into my house’. So I started describing her house and it was like identical.
GP: Spot on!
RP: And she was like ’oh say these names’ or whatever and I was like making up these names and she was like ’this is my son, this is the guy I was just with, blablabla’ so we must have known each other in a previous life, and she was like ’where are you from?’ just saying her family 350 years ago her family house was the Sun Inn in Barnes. Which is also where my mum’s water broke with me. In the garden of the Sun Inn.

I: Te voltál a követett hírességem, igen. Vasárnaponként a Barnes-i Sun Inn-be mentél a gitároddal.
RP: Sokszor voltam ott.
I: Igen?
RP: Van is egy érdekes történetem a Sun Inn-ről.
GP: Halljuk, halljuk a történeted.
A Sun Inn kertjében.

I: No way!
GP: Well how about that! Very
RP: Strange.
GP: The things that you obviously
RP: That I’m a psychic.
GP: Yes.
I: Hey Guy, I don’t know if you know that
GP: You know where my mother’s water broke
I: Listen, we were born in the same hospital. I found this out last night when I was
GP: Really?
I: Yeah
GP: Well, how about that? Do you have seven rooms in your house by any chance, and old --- style mansion?
I: No, I work at XFm, I got a flat.
---------------------
GP: I bet I was born before you though
I: That’s right, there’s a couple of years between us.
GP: Yeah I’m sure.

I: Ilyen nincs!
GP: Nem semmi! Nagyon
RP: Fura.
GP: Ezek a dolgok egyértelműen
RP: Hogy látnok vagyok.
GP: Igen.
I: Egy kórházban születtünk. Erre tegnap este jöttem rá, amikor
GP: Igazán?
I: Igen.
GP: Az biztos.

I: This is obviously XFm where we’re big on music and you guys gotta show off, but you’re both musicians. And I just wanted, is there a project in your head that you’d like to do, maybe go and release music at some point?
GP: I don’t know, we both kind of, you know
I: Not together obviously.
GP: Yeah, of all the best duets out there we could do an album.
RP: Roving.
GP: Roving duet, yeah. Well I’ve been making some music and I might get out at some point or other. I always talk about this and I never really do it, so I don’t know. But it’s a good form of expression. And Rob brought songs, he played couple of great songs on set while we were there, so. But I think it’s one of those things you just, you know as an actor you’re working, you’re busy working, you’re quite sort of tied up in all that, so.
RP: Yeah. And also you gotta kind of, I mean, I was trying to think of how to release something, I was trying to think about the band name is the most impossible thing, it’s so humiliating, whatever
I: What have you decided
GP: I think it will be My Psychic Glint (???) My Psychiy Hangover Glant. Sorry.
I: It’s all right. Rob, you have played a couple of gigs in London before that, right?
RP: Billions.
I: Yeah? Are you gonna --- at some point?
RP: I mean now that everyone can record stuff on their phones it’s kind a like you’re really sing a record as soon as you do a gig, it’s kinda emberrassing. But I used to play in – around the corner I used to play, I moved to Soho because I played there every Monday. And at bunch of other places. But yeah, it’s too nervewrecking. The first time I recorded something I literally never played a gig again.

GP: Nem tudom, mindketten
I: Nem együtt, persze.
RP: A Roving-ot (vándorló)
GP: Roving duettek, igen.
RP: Igen. És azon is gondolkodtam, ha kiadnék valamit, akkor a név lenne a leglehetetlenebb dolog, annyira megalázó
I: Mi mellett döntöttél?
GP: Szerintem az Én Pszichikai Csillogásom. Az Én Pszichikai Másnapos Csillogásom. Bocs.
I: Semmi baj. Rob, te már koncerteztél itt Londonban korábban, igaz?
RP: Rengetegszer.
I: Igen?
Aztán sok másik helyen is.

Kerekasztal riport a három muskétással

Ez a cikk tetszett a legjobban a kerekasztal interjú eredmények közül.

Phil Edwards: Michod egy remek fazon akivel szívesen berúgnék. Guy Pearce a legudvariasabb és leglazább ember a világon – viccelt a kamerákkal, lelkesen és izgatottan válaszolt a kérdéseinkre. És Pattinson... Basszus. Megadom magam. Most már teljesen belezúgtam Robert Pattinsonba.

(a ford: lol, David Cronenberg napszemüvegben fotózkodott )

I: Rob, milyenennek találtad a munkát az ausztráliai pusztaságban?

GP: Igen. Soha nem viselek rövidnadrágot! (mindenki nevet)

I: Mi a helyzet a karakter kinézetével Rob?

I: The Rover – brilliant, but it is bleak and it is brutal. A struggle to wait for the redeeming moment in it. How was it making it?
RP: I’m told (??) that everyone saying how bleak it is, but I mean, my part, in my head, you know, he’s had such a terrible life before this story starts, but this is actually the happiest moment in his head.
I: He has had a terrible life.
RP: And to me it’s just a little road trip with a new friend.
I: There is definitely that sense that he sees the Guy Pearce character as his new friend and he sort of almost starts come out of himself.
RP: Yeah. I mean, I think he is, Guy is a, he’s just being so profoundly bullied by people, he hasn’t even really known another aspect to his life, you know people, whenever he opened his mouth people just told him to shut up his whole life, and even though Guy is very, Guy, khm, Eric is in his very aggressive way he actually gives him a little bit of self-esteem, he’s forcing him to speak up for himself. Or just think for himself. I think the mechanism that Rey has as thinking is just, he’s just been a dog for the people around, so that’s kind of very satisfying for him to try and please someone else.
I: Was it satisfying to play?

I: A Rover – lenyűgöző, mégis sivár és brutális.
I: Szörnyű élete volt.
I: Kielégítő volt eljátszani?

RP: Definitely. It was like a really fun part, there were no particular premises of how to play it and so I just turned up for work having absolutely no idea what you were gonna do. And especially with Guy, I never had any idea what Guy was gonna do either. So that was completely exciting to play.
I: And this film couldn’t be more different in that sense from Twilight of course.
RP: Yeah. Yeah. It couldn’t really be more different.
I: It’s hard to see, or do you anticipate your audience from Twilight coming across with you in a way you’re looking to sort of end that relationship.

I: Ez a film a lehető legjobban elkülönül a Twilighttól.
RP: Igen. Igen.

RP: No, not at all. But I mean, I never try to get an audience on the first place, it’s sort of just all been luck, I thought the movie was interesting, the first Twilight I thought was there was something interesting about it and also I was just auditioning for everything. That was just you’re doing the jobs you get. I mean, you know, making the most of them. And I don’t know, I think it’s impossible to think about what an audience wants. I can’t really think what anybody wants. You always think if you’re doing stuff for the right reason, challenging movies, and you’re not doing it for money or something kind of thin reason then hopefully at least one other person will like it, but you can’t predict what an audience is gonna do.
I: At any point, did you yourself see where Twilight was going in terms of what it would do for you?
RP: No, I still don’t really know what it’s done to me to be honest. (??? 3:08). Because, I think I kind of, I’ve got a little bit detached as it started really exploding, cause I don’t wanna go crazy, and I was more of a spectator to the whole situation. I was a sort of bystander.
I: And when you look at it from that bystander point of view, do you regard it as a sort of bittersweet experience for you, I mean obviously it made you a lot of money –
RP: That was great!
I: and power

Megcsináltad a munkát amit kaptál. Legalábbis a legtöbbjét.
I: és hatalmat

RP: The whole experience was really great, and the movies were really fun to do as well, the whole situation is just like funny, I can’t even believe half the stuff that happened. Being in the Munich Olympic Stadium, I was like 22 years old, and there was like 40000 people just and we were supposed to do like Q and A. And 40000 people just screaming. Like what is going on? All these absolutely bizarr experiences which very-very few people would ever experience. That was super, super-super fun. But intense.
I: How did you stop yourself from going crazy, as you put it?
RP: I just thought that the surreality of the whole situation, I mean, you know, I didn’t even really set out to be an actor when I was, I didn’t even do drama GCSE, I mean, it’s like, in fact my drama teacher told me not to do it.
I: You’re managing without it. It’s going okay.
RP: So it just seemed like the craziest thing in the world. And now, when you’re offered the opportunities to do it, I’m basically just recreating my DVD shelf from when I was 17, working with people who I liked when I was a kid.
I: And that fame which for you was an extraordinary level, it’s fair to say that you’re quite popular with the young ladies, I mean has that been a sort of blessing or a burden, would you say?

I: Jól elvagy nélküle.

RP: I mean, I don’t even really know, you kind of definitely some kind of fun aspects of it, but yeah, it’s a kind of mixture, I’m not sure what it’s done professionally cause I guess I was working before, I just sort of auditioned for stuff, I’m not entirely sure if it’s easier to get jobs, I mean, you still have to audition, for this, I was auditioning for it.
I: You are in a position to call up if you fancy doing something now, which presumably weren’t in the beginning.
RP: I mean not really, because people you really wanna work with wouldn’t wanna do it for that reason anyway, I mean getting the financing for, you know, if I wanted to do a movie which looked almost identical to Twilight I’d probably get financing for it from someone, but the people I wanna work with still, I haven’t proved myself in too many different environments so I would want people to audition me. So I guess it hasn’t really changed that much, really.
I: In terms of I suppose, you know, there’s not a great ---6:06 sympathy for filmstars I suppose who are hunted by whether it’s thousands of young girls or the paparazzi. But I mean it is presumably living through it, quite tricky at times.
RP: Yeah, I mean, but you know, everyone’s got kind of lame aspects of their lifes, I’ve realized over the last few years, cause if you complain about something, the vitriolugy (????) came back from then like ’How dare you complain about something!’ I think what people don’t get is like, I think actors will say something in an interview when they’re just basically bitching and moaning about in the same way you’re bithcing and moaning about in any job, but you don’t really realize, a lot of time people don’t realize that they’re actually doing an interview.

I: It sounds as if it is quite difficult to find somewhere to live, where you weren’t hunted.
RP: Yeah, I mean that’s one of the annoying things about that is that you can’t really live in London cause people stay outside your door, there aren’t many gated communities in London (???? 7:12) which has made my life like profoundly different. In LA when I had people waiting outside my house I was loosing my mind. And now it’s kind of
I: What is that feeling like at that moment you’re sitting in your own home?
RP: Yeah, you’re in prison. It’s kind of, you have like five cars of people outside your house literally 24 hours a day, it’s crazy, and you’re so helpless to it as well, and I think also just being like a guy it’s so emasculating the fact that there’s a bunch of guys who can look at you and say and do whatever they want to and you can’t do anything and like, all you wanna do is punch them in the face. Like, if that’s what they want.
I: In what sense that you mean that guys goad you?
RP: Oh yeah, 100%. That’s literally the only thing they want. And staulkers with cameras and say oh I’m not a stalker I’m a paparazzi, oh, I’m like, some massive difference! And yeah, you kind of figure out what’s the deal with it. I don’t go anywhere where I got photographed anymore.
I: That must be incredibly limiting.

Most pedig
I: Úgy érted, hogy erre öszönöznedk
RP: Igen, 100%-ig.

RP: It is, but it’s the anxiety you get rid of, you know, not looking over your shoulder all the time, it’s just I’m so much more calm when I was two years ago.
I: Isn’t that still a bit like being in a prison then?
RP: Yeah, but it’s a prison of your chosing. And everyone’s got some kind of prison. I like my prison to be the one I’ve created.
I: I mean it’s interesting, looking at the film, because it’s filmed in the outback, miles from everywhere, you’re living in a shipping container surrounded by flies, I mean it sounds haul (9:07), but you’ve quite liked it.
RP: Yeah, it was amazing. As I’ve gotten older that aspect, just having anonymousy, it’s very difficult to realize how valuable anonymity is. Just walking down the street and not worrying about stuff is so unbelievably important. And it doesn’t matter about anything else. You don’t need anything else.
I: You didn’t have much else by the sound of it?
RP: Not really, just being able to stand and just looking hundreds of miles around you and just like, just knowing that you’re doing what you wanna do, and no one’s witnessing and you can be yourself. It’s amazing.
I: Was that exhilarating in a way?

Másra nincs is szükséged.
I: Boldoggá tett valamilyen módon?

RP: Yeah, I was so happy out there. I would literally, I think it would be different if we didn’t have a crew out there, I was thinking about staying for another week after I realized maybe it would be a different situation if I didn’t have anyone around me.
I: Starts ---- a bit strange. 10:12
RP: Yeah. Like really alone. But it was great shooting there.
I: And in some ways it’s obviously huge filmstars, it’s always been a way that there are fans obsessively seeking you out, do you think social media in a sense has made that very much worse, someone spoke to you within minutes its hundreds and thousands of people in your case probably, know where you are.
RP: Yeah, definitely changed things, when twitter became big. They used to be able to kind of be at the right event and it’s like no matter what you do, and cameraphones as well have changed everything. Yeah, it kind of really-really, mo--- changed things.
I: And I suppose, you were saying earlier on about how ---- people are when you complain about it or when you talk about it, I suppose the argument is that you make a lot of money and it’s the price you pay.
RP: I think it’s just internet people anyway, I’m also not entirely sure of the people who have comments on the internet if they actually are real people. It’s like a machine that makes them. I don’t know anyone who’s ever done a comment on anything on the internet.

I: Furcsává kezdene válni.
RP: Igen. Teljesen egyedül. De nagyszerű volt ott forgatni.
I: És bizonyos módon, nagy filmsztároknál mindig is voltak rajongók, akik megszállottan üldöznek, szerinted a közösségi média rosszabbá tette ezt?
RP: Igen, mindenképp, főleg amikor a twitter nagy dolog lett.

I: Do you avoid reading it now?
RP: It’s impossible not to. Literally if someone’s whispering about you in the next room, you’re gonna listen to it. But at the same time you kind of, I’m not trying to change anyone’s opinion particularly, which is what I realized over the years is just like I don’t care. I mean you care what people are saying, but after someone said that, you don’t actually want them to like you anyways. You just wanna judge them back.
I: And you’ve had to live out sort of break up of a big relationship in public. Did that make it worse or is that really not matter?
RP: No I mean, it’s just kind of, yeah, it’s all the same, your reality is so detached from that, it’s a totally different situation, the only connection which has reality to it is when a story’s happening, there’s just more paparazzi around. And so there’s higher intensity to it. But there is no, like, no one knows anything about you really, and I’ve tried really hard to make that separation between my love, my real life and my kind of public person.
I: But because of trying to keep out of being hunted down the road, I mean, staying in a lot – is it lonely?
RP: I don’t really stay in a lot, but I just go to places where like don’t allow photographes and stuff. Cause that’s it really, I mean, if people are just talking about things then it doesn’t matter. It’s all just made up. There’s just a few places in LA where they genuinley don’t allow photographes. And I just go there.
I: And you talked about how it would be difficult to live here, but you’ve also said in the past that you like people who make things, and that is very difficult in England. You know, friends of you also had to give up, because it’s so difficult. What do you mean by that?

I: Kerülöd ezeknek az olvasását?
I: Egy szakítást is át kellett vészelned a nyilvánosság előtt.

RP: It’s expensive. That’s why I kind of noticed, you know, a lot of my friends doing music and stuff and there’s just a, I guess, it’s only really bad in the entertainment industry, if you’re in LA, everytime you go out, there is like, there’s someone, it just happens, something’s happening, whereas, the industry is smaller in London and it’s so expensive to like put on a gig, or do anything, it’s just difficult to get the ball rolling, I mean, that’s what I found when I was, I mean, I haven’t been --- for like six years now. So maybe it’s different. But I did notice that when I was there, and it’s sad, cause I remember when I was 18, maybe it’s changed, but when I was 18, there was an energy, and things seemed like you could do things, but then a few years later it suddenly like just got so expensive, like no one can live in or get a flat or anything.
I: But do you think it’s time for creativity here (????) ?
RP: 100%. Whenever there’s a new, even in East-London, East-London, I remember when I was 18-19, you could live there being an art student or something and now it’s just like you need flats, like a billions of pounds, everything is billions of pounds. Maybe I just don’t know where the cool artiellies (???) are now.
I: Thank very much for joining us.
RP: Thank you.

RP: 100%-ban.
I: Nagyon köszönöm, hogy eljöttél.

RP: Köszönöm.

Rob és Guy az angol MTV-nél

06.08.2014 UK The Rover Rob and Guy interview... by Roboshayka_Forever

I: Hey, ---- this is MTV News and today I sit opposit Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce chat about their brand new movie the Rover. Of course I ask you about Geordie Shore cause apparently you said it was your favourite tv show right now.
RP: I love Geordie Shore.
I: So who is your favourite character and why?
RP: I mean, I haven’t seen it for a while, so I can’t remember people
I: It’s still got like Charlotte in there who is quite crazy, West Bez, --, Holly Jay,
GP: Love Charlotte and her bed wetting.
RP: What is it they collect, rutting?
I: Rutting?
RP: Yeah, right?
GP: What, in Australia, or?
RP: Don’t know, I can’t remember, is it rutting or roose ---
GP: Roose--- in Australia. Here what’s rutting, is that something...
RP: It’s the same thing.
GP: Oh is it? Rutting? Fancy your rut, love! Let’s have a quick rut, a rut in the bath, I say.
I: So would you guys both be up for a night out of the town, on the Toon?
RP: I’d love it.
GP: We could cast Geordie Shore! Sure.
RP: They just look so happy all the time, I’d actually wanna hang out with them. In all those reality shows most of the time it’s like watching the...
GP: The miserables.
RP: Yeah, with most of those reality shows it's like watching a bunch of people who are just desperate fame whores, and those guys just look like they'd just be doing the same thing anyway!
I: And that’s actually what they’re like.
RP: They’re really genuine.
GP: Let’s all go hang out with them.
I: I'm done if you're.
GP: Let's organize that.
I: Thanks so much guys.

RP: Imádom a Geordie Shore-t.
RP: Mire is hajtanak, a lyukakra?
I: Lyukakra?
RP: Aha, nem?
GP: Mi? Ausztráliában, vagy hol?
RP: Nem tudom. Nem emlékszem, lyukak, vagy micsoda...
GP: Ausztráliában? Itt a lyukak, azok olyasmik, mint...
RP: Az ugyanaz lesz.
GP: Ó, igen? Lyukak? Bírom a lyukadat, drágám.
I: Szóval, mindketten benne lennétek egy vad éjszakában a csapattal?
GP: A nyomorultakat néznéd.
I: És olyanok is.
RP: Igazán eredetiek.
GP: Menjünk mind, lógjunk velük.
I: Én benne vagyok, ha ti is.
GP: Szervezd meg.
I: Nagyon köszönöm srácok.

A ford. megjegyzéséhez.

"Geordie Shore is a structured reality show on MTV, following a group of friends living together in a house in Newcastle. It is best known for its outrageous drunken antics, fiery rows and X-rated sex scenes. Why-aye man!"

Egy barátokból álló csoport együttélését mutatja be egy New Caste-i házban. Leginkább botrányos ivászataikról, vad balhéikról és felnőtt besorolású szex-jeleneiről ismert. Miért is ne, ember!

Na.

p

RP: The good thing about LA – I’m swetting like crazy!

RP: Az a jó LA-ben – őrület, mennyire izzadok!

I: This is the first event where I can actually hear what you’re saying
RP: Oh really?
I: Yeah.
RP: I know, I’m kinda like self-conscious. I can’t concentrate, I’ve gotta tell Guy ’shut up!’

I: Ez az első alkalom, hogy hallom, mit mondasz
RP: Igazán?
I: Igen.
RP: Tudom, ezért eléggé figyelek is.

RP: Yeah, I kind of realized quite early on... particularly... ou

RP: I don’t know, I guess I kind of get used to it, everything is just sort of becomes part of the job, it’s such a quite nice chemistry(???), because you don’t have to think about the answer to the question, just say anything that comes into your head. 1:07

GP: The sort of the sparseness of the landscape really sort of adds to the experience that you have out there and

GP: The location which was the Flinders Rangers. Oh here he is! Was fascinating. It really was fascinating. The landscape is interesting, the heat is obviously is positively a part in sort of how you feel when you’re out there, and the isolation I think is also, it’s something you can’t ignore. So you’re very aware of the location constantly, when you’re out there. And as well as the ab original history, so it was a really evocative kind of experience, really.

RP: I just wanted to have, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to have a thing called the sacral bone, at the bottom of your skull, I just wanted that to be exposed, it’s a thing that makes you look really vulnerable, so I did that which involved having to wet shaved (???) your head every single day which was slightly annoying after a while. But yeah, that and the teeth, that kind of, browning up your teeth, and have some tattoos and stuff.
I: And just getting covered in mud and dust generally.
RP: That has happened, you couldn’t really avoid that.

I: Továbbá állandóan poros és sáros voltál.

I: I heard that your wardrobe was on the floor. Is that right?
GP: I hope that it was on the floor. There’s nothing worse than going to put your wrinkly shirt on on the next day and then some lovely young costume assistant has ironed your shirt for you. And you go, ’it’s not meant to look ironed’. So no, it was pretty much, pretty graudy (???) every day. Which was good.

I: Azt hallottam, hogy a ruháid a földön voltak.

I: How are you on a road trip, are you a good passenger?
GP: No, no I’m not. No, I’d rather be driving. Personally, so it was a good arrangement that Rob was our passenger and I was driving.
I: Are you a bit of a control freak?
GP: Maybe, well I get casted. So – I’m a control freak when it comes to being in a car, I think.

I: Szereted irányítani a dolgokat?
GP: Nos, én vagyok az, akit kiválasztanak a szerepekre. Szóval – szeretem irányítani a dolgokat amikor autóban vagyok, gondolom.

I: How are you on road trips, are you a good passenger?
RP: I just fall asleep when I’m a passenger, immediately. Any car, obviously in five minutes.
I: --- Guy
RP: Yeah, he’s a very driving person, I’m a terrible driver.

Filmvilág kritika a Roverről

És akkor most angolra fordítva a szót
The Rover – Roaming in the Haunted Land

Michôd's Haggard Apocalyptic Movie Is A Deliberate Counterpoint Of Mad Max

by Márton Jankovics

Ever since the Mad Max series it has been a cliché how suitable is the cineramic doomsday for Australia, a land thriving in barren landscapes and deserted highways. Apocalypse, unsuprsisingly, became an important export asset of the film industry of the country. This theme floats above the plot even when the genre of the film is western (The Proposition) or family drama (Animal Kingdom).

However, the fact of the apocalypse is not only carried in The Rover as a latent disease, but is maintained as a fact, following the path laid out by Mad Max. The onset is followed by the lean disclosure that the plot is now ten years beyond the otherwise undisclosed ''collapse''. What that means, remains almost completely unknown even later, as the film is hardly less laconic as its mysterious protagonist, Eric, who makes the Man with the Harmonica from Once Upon a Time in the West a lazy tattler. We can only guess around about the fate of the other continents, and also only half a sentence is muttered in the topic of hard life in the remaining cities. The intentional lack of information proves to be a powerful tool, preparing the frustrating revelation: this post-apocalyptic world lies disturbingly close to our own reality. No nuclear explosions can be seen, no natural cataclysm happens, nor a global zombie outbreak is shown, and even the prospect of the final exhaustion of the planet is missing to stand guard on the border of reality and fantasy.

The world is not ended with an explosion common for the genre, but with low-pitched whining – if it is ended at all. For a lot of business goes on as usual: global money circulation is not suspended, just transformed; the multicultural melting pot keeps boiling, and even there is a military force patrolling the prarie with its own unclear intentions and competency. In addition, the entire film lacks the scenical view on the ending of the world: no spectacular adventurousity and baroquesque barbarism of Mad Max is shown, just thin minimalism, which pushes even the most extreme state of emergency to the level of grey everyday routine. The delimination from the great predecessor is made unambiguous in the very beginning: not only some Holdens and Nissans take the place of the awesome tribal vehicle compositions, but also is the slow car chase of the exposition seems to be the intentional antithesis to the wild races of the Mel Gibson-movie. Not to mention that the only car crash during the 103 minutes of playtime is sarcastically drawn to the background by the director.

The already mentioned Eric crosses this disintegrating society, accompanied by a mildly more talkative companion, Rey, both searching the same person – Rey's brother – for absolutely different reasons. Their motives are far from definite, yet they are pushed aside by a far more important question: the stake of the journey is not whether their quest ends successfully, but if any kind of trust can be rekindled in this haunted country, or the drought of nihilism would kill all human interaction beyond mere combination.

The bleak scenery combined with industrial music is a perfect way for the creation of the mood of the film, still, the vitalisation of the almost too minimalistic plot is carried out by the two protagonists. The smashing acting by Guy Pearce is not surprising at all, as he is not displayed in such a role for the first time. Director David Michôd tells in an interview that the spent, wry character of Eric was specifically designed for Pearce. Robert Pattinson seemed to be a more risky pick, however, following Cosmopolis by David Cronenberg, the pretty guy of the Twilight-films stands his ground, getting auspiciously away from the gravitational field of the sentimental vampire saga. (One of the rare humorous moments in the film is when Pattinson sings along with the radio the chorus of „Don't hate me 'cause I'm beautiful” in the desert night.)

The Rover proves to be a positive confirmation in the case of the young English star, and it is also assured that the first film, Animal Kingdom by director and scriptwriter David Michôd was not simply a flash, and that Michôd, alongside John Hillcoat is the most promising contemporary Australian filmmaker.
