Cosmopolis Press Conference Torontó 4. rész

Q17: Sean P from … Canada, a question for Mr Cronenberg and Mr Pattinson. My wife and I are actually were for a walk in the summer and we s... upon the Cosmopolis set. And it's curious, cause why are all these people gathered around G Avenue in this …. shop, and security said it's Cosmopolis. I'm just wondering for, Mr cronenberg, I'm certain that has never happened before where you've had, well, …. , has it ever happened before where you had these huge crowds watching you sets and what was that like, and for Mr Pattinson, I know you've had similar experience with other productions, do Canadian crowds compared to the largely dis---- 0:47 Remember me in NY for instance?

DC: Was it a huge crowd really? I thought it was like 3 girls. They were noisy, but, you know, I've worked with some, Jeremy Irons, Jude Law, and so there was a lot, completely out of my experience I have to say. The premier that we had in Portugal was pretty amazing, that was unusual, cause there was a red carpet that was about a mile long, and it was lined with literally a thousand screaming girls. And they weren't all Portugese either, some of them were saying, come to Russia, so I knew they weren't Portugese. So that was kinda like the Beatles, and I had not experienced anything like that before, but other than that, it's not totally out of my experience anyway.

Q17: Sean P vagyok a Canada valamitől, lenne egy kérdésem Mr Cronenberg és Mr Pattinson számára. A feleségem és én múlt nyáron belebotlottunk a Cosmopolis forgatási helyszínébe. És kíváncsi voltam, miért gyűlt össze annyi ember a G Avenue-n, és egy biztonsági mondta, hogy a Cosmopolis-t forgatják. Azon gondolkodtam, Mr Cronenberg, biztos, hogy korábban nem volt ilyen, vagyis, megtörtént-e már korábban, hogy ekkora tömeg vette körül a forgatást, és Mr Pattinson, tudom, hogy önnek már volt hasonlóban tapasztalata, példáula a Remember Me forgatásán, hogyan hasonlítaná össze a kanadai tömeget a többivel?

DC: Tényleg olyan nagy lett volna? Azt hittem, csak olyan 3 lány volt ott. Hangosak voltak, de már dolgoztam nagyobb nevekkel, mint Jeremy Irons, Jude Law, szóval voltak, de ilyenben nem volt még tapasztalatom. A portugál premier egészen lenyűgöző volt, valóban szokatlan, maga a vörös szőnyeg vagy egy mérföld hosszú volt, és végig sikongató lányok voltak. És nem mindegyikük portugál volt, mert páran azt kiabálták, hogy gyertek Oroszországba, szóval tudtam, hogy nem portugálok. Szóval az olyan volt, mintha mi lettünk volna a Beatles, és én még nem tapasztaltam ezelőtt, de attól függetlenül más újdonság nem volt.

RP: There wasn't a massive difference, generally people are pretty nice. It's very confusing as to why people sat there and watched for a long time, but this one was a little bit more frightening. I definitely know, the first scene, which we did, I think that was the first time I was outside of the limo, and there was a big crowd line-up, and we, it seemed like it was a big shot, as we shot down the whole street and everything, me and Kevin and there, put the sunglasses on and everything and looking very seriously, lookin like some; there was actually Men in Black 3 at the same time, in NY, and Will Smith jumped out of a window and explosion goes off, and everyone was wating to see what's gonna happen, and we were speaking, barely even opening out mouth, and then that was that. All these people, I don't know. I was so terrified the whole time, that it's gonna, you know, people who're waiting around would just spread word that this was the most boring film ever. I was so nervous, as soon as we went out to the, when there was anybody watching, but Canadians are generally pretty nice.

DC: One thing just to say, the girls, who were at G Avenue at 3 in the morning, were very sweet and they had read the book. This is quite extraordinary, they made a t-shirt for us, that said Nancy Babitch and had a pistol on it. Now, and then I wore that and they went crazy and they were very excited. But that's interesting, because very early on we were on the net, we would see that they had been making these Cosmopolis fan websites, and some of them were incredibly beautiful, actually couple of them were better than the official website.

RP: People in London, I think we were doing the interview together, when someone was saying what the tagline was for the movie, and both of us didn't know what it was, and I've just found out that it was from one of the fan-made posters, and a whole bunch of journalists thought it was the real one.

DC: They would make posters and they were reading the book and the comments, commenting on DD's book, these are girls who had read like HP and Twilight, and now they're reading DD, and they still like it, and they still wanna see the movie, so I thought, well, there's nothing wrong with that. Really, for me there was no downside to the aspect of it.

RP: Nem volt túl nagy különbség, az emberek általában rendesek. Azt ugyan nem értem, hogy miért ülnek ott órákat és csak néznek, ez egy kicsit ijesztőbb volt. Emlékeszem, amikor az első jelenetet vettük fel a limuzinon kívül, és úgy tűnt, hogy itt most valami nagy jelenet lesz felvéve, egész nagy tömeg gyűlt össze, le volt zárva az egész út, meg minden, ott voltunk Kevin és én, kiöltözve, napszemüveg, meg ami kell, és éppen nagyon komolyan néztünk; és ha jól emlékszem, akkor forgatták a Men in Black 3-at, NY-ban, és Will Smith ugrált ki az ablakon, meg robbanások voltak, és mindenki állt, és várt, hogy mi fog történni, és mi csak álltunk ott, még a szájunkat is alig nyitottuk ki, és ennyi volt. És az a sok ember, nem tudom. Annyira féltem egész idő alatt, hogy az emberek majd azt fogják terjeszteni, hogy ez lesz az egyik legunalmasabb film, ami valaha készült. Ideges voltam, ahogy kimentünk, de a kanadaiak rendesek.

DC: Csak egy dolgot szeretnék mondani, a lányok, akik a G Avenue-n voltak hajnali háromkor, nagyon kedvesek voltak, és olvasták a könyvet is. És ez igen elképesztő, még pólót is készítettek nekünk, volt rajta egy pisztoly, és a Nancy Babitch felirat. Aztán amikor felvettem a pólót, kissé őrült volt a helyzet, nagyon izgatottak voltak. De érdekes, már egészen korán körülnéztünk a neten, és láttuk, hogy sok rajongói oldal készült, és némelyik igen gyönyörű volt, sőt, egyik-másik még a hivatalosnál is jobb volt.

RP: Az emberek Londonban, azt hiszem, akkor együtt voltunk az interjún, és valaki mondott egy szlogent a filmhez, és egyikünk se tudta, hogy mi volt az, aztán csak nemrég jöttem rá, hogy az egyik rajongó által készített poszteren szerepelt, és sok újságíró azt hitte, hogy az volt az hivatalos.

DC: Posztereket készítettek és elolvasták a könyvet, és a kommentekből kiderült, hogy ezek azok a lányok, akik olvasták a Harry Pottert és a Twilight-ot, és most Don DeLillo könyvét is olvasták, és tetszett nekik, és meg akarják nézni a filmet, szóval szerintem ezzel semmi baj nincs. Igazán, részemről nem volt hátulütője ennek a dolognak.

Q18: This is a question, sorry, Adam N form CinemaScope??, question for David, but I guess, also ---- of the Toronto, people in the cast, people familiar with the city. The city of NY has such a major character in the novel. Can you talk about the challenges of representing Toronto as NY in this film, particularly in some of those challenges are repressed simply by how and where the movie takes place, the space, where Eric does or doesn't go.

DC: Yeah. Well, the book, it's all 47^th street. So 47^th street is a fairly anonymus street, somebody said 'yeah, there aren't even NY landmarks in the movie', well, there aren't in the book either. And in fact, a lot of the places, actually almost all of them that DD mentioned in that novel, which he wrote about 10 to 12 years ago are gone. American town libraries, and all of those places, so if we'd actually shot on 47^th street, it still wouldn't have looked like the novel. Also they use those same parking meter thing, where you get your ticket you know, they're exactly the same in NY, same brands, same make, same colour, same stickers, everything. So even that looks like Toronto. Finally once I had decided that we, that when we were in the limo, we would not see anything except from inside the perspective of the limo, then you're not seeing a lot, you're not looking up, you can't see how tall the buildings are or  that kind of thing, and we were using green screen, because our limo was like a Lego limo, it came apart in 24 pieces, so that we could shoot, that was all studio, all green screen through the windows, so you were plugging in NY City, and you would have done that surely in NY as well. I couldn't have shot that in a real limo, that impossible, couldn't get the camera, couldn't get the light, all that stuff. So even shooting in NY, it would have looked pretty much like it did, I have to say. And some of the street stuff that happens, when you're at the Westend of 47^th street, it looks like 6:42, it really does, G Avenue looks like 47^th street.

Q18: Egy kérdés David, számára, illetve azok számára is, akik ismerősek Toronto városában. NY City városának jelentős szerepe van a regényben. Elmondanád, milyen volt Torontót mint NY ábrázolni, milyen kihívásokkal járt ez?

DC: Nos, a könyv a 47^th utcán játszódik. A 47^th utca egy igen névtelen utca, és igen, volt is valaki, aki azt mondta, 'Nincsenek is NY-i helyek a filmben', de igazság szerint, annak a nagy része, amiről DD írt a könyvében 10-12 éve, azok már eltűntek. A kisebb könyvtárak, meg az egyebek, szóval még ha ott is forgattunk volna, akkor se nézett volna ki úgy, mint a könyvben. Ráadásul még a parkolóórák is ugyanúgy néznek ki, ugyanaz a márkájuk, a színük, a matricák ahol a jegyet lehet kapni. Tehát még az is ugyanolyan Torontóban. És miután úgy döntötte, hogy a limóban leszünk, hogy onnan látunk majd mindent, akkor onnan nem lehet sokat látni, nem nézel felfelé, nem lehet látni milyen magasak az épületek, meg ilyesmi. Továbbá green screent is használtunk, és használtuk is volna akkor is, ha NY-ban forgatunk. Egyébként se tudtam volna egy igazi limuzinban forgatni, az lehetetlen lett volna, se a kamera nem fért volna be, se a megvilágítás nem működött volna. Szóval még ha NY-ban forgattunk volna, akkor se lett volna az eredmény sokkal másabb. Ami meg az utcán történik, a Westend része a 47^th utcának egész olyan, mint a G Avenue.

Q19: Question for RP, I'm M from the R, first, Paul G, you're looking good.

PG: Thanks a lot, man.

Q: That's your question, M, thank you.

Q19: Nonono, RP, I just wanted to --- for you, your fans that loved you in Twilight, what do you have to say to them before they go and see this film, which you're really good in.

RP: I don't know, I mean, I think they'll like it, you know, you hope that there's something about what you brought to the part in every job you do, in which people like about and not just , just like your work as in a totally abstract way, they say like 'I'm a Twilight fan, therefore I like Twilight, even if I don't like it'. So hopefully they kind of, and I liked the Twilight script in the same way that I liked this, and so hopefully they'll appriciate it.

Q19: Kérdés Robert Pattinson számára, de először hadd mondjam Paul, remekül nézel ki.

PG: Nagyon köszönöm.

Q19: Nem, nem ez volt az. Robert, a rajongóid számára, akik nagyon szerettek a Twilight-ban, mit mondanál nekik mielőtt elmennek és megnézik ezt a filmet, amiben nagyon jó voltál?

RP: Nem tudom, akarom mondani, szerintem tetszeni fog nekik, az ember reméli, hogy van valami abból, amit beleadott magából minden egyes munkába, és nem csak olyan absztrakt módon szeretik, mint akik azt mondják, 'Twilight rajongó vagyok, szóval szeretem a Twilight-ot, akkor is ha egyébként nem'. Szóval remélhetőleg tetszeni fog nekik, és nekem tetszett a Twilight forgatókönyve csakúgy, mint ez, szóval remélem értékelni fogják.
